ARVO- a Cafe in a Botantical Garden & coconut whip cream recipe

Finding good places to eat is tricky so I think it would be fun to start sharing some of the local treasures here on the islands! This weeks spot light.. ARVO Cafe!  They are located in the trendy district of Honolulu, Kakaako, and inside of a botanical garden called Paiko which offers all sorts of garden services and cool home decor!

If you are in Honolulu make sure you check out ithem out and try the green tea chia pudding and avocado toast! Stoked for my friends Dixie and Mason who just opened this place! You guys are doing such an amazing job! We LOVE everything about it and excited to go back. 

(By the way re-use Hawaii is down the street which is anon-profit organization working to reduce waste through building material reuse and recycling. We get all sorts of things from there like wood to build tables, beds, decorations, there are mirrors, doors etc for a good price, we frequent it a lot!):)

Here is a little recipe for you today! Its a new favorite....Vegan Whip Cream. Super simple and inspired by the Arvo cafes matcha whip cream!

HOMEMADE COCONUT WHIP CREAM RECIPE (matcha version too)

Ingredients
One chilled (15-ounce) can full-fat coconut milk
1-2 tablespoon coconut sugar(to taste)
1 teaspoon vanilla or 1 pod vanilla bean

*for matcha coconut cream add small teaspoon of matcha powder

Need
Large bowl cold bowl
Hand beaters or a stand mixer

How to!

1. Open the can of chilled coconut milk. Scoop off the cream and leave the water for something else.

2.  Place the coconut cream in the bowl of a stand mixer, or a large bowl and mix on high speed for 3-5 minutes unti fluffy and forms soft peaks.

3. Mix in sugar and vanilla and matcha (optional) and you are done! 

note *lasts a few days in the fridge!
